Lenny Smith was born and raised in the fertile musical landscape of Muscle Shoals Alabama. He has been a veteran of Pittsburgh music for 35 yrs. Playing in various bands from his stint with Pittsburgh legend Billy Price from 1992-2007 and his own projects. With 3 solo CD’s, Smith is looking to reach a wider audience with his versatile music styles such as exploring more of the American roots music like soul, blues, country and anything that is pleasing to the ears.
As Smith recalls “On my first CD (Let’s Play) I had the blues as a format, but threw in a couple of songs far to the left... On my second CD (Southern Style) I ditched the blues format and just played what I felt. That was liberating, not having to chain myself to one style of music, which to me is death... With my new CD American Stew, I once again find myself experimenting with all types of American music and you know it’s so cool to not lock myself into a box that I can’t work out of. It’s true, when your honest with yourself, you can be honest with your music. Being yourself and pouring out what God gave you is most important. Check out the new CD and you’ll know what I’m talking about!”
